DAYA - Designs with Philosophy

The DAYA collection originates from a collaboration between Laabmilano and Akar de Nissim. Its objective is to express contemporary Italian design through iconic forms and their poetic and historical vision, rooted in the ancient doctrine of Feng Shui, which has sensorially supported our life visions for centuries.

Philosophy
Central to the design project of the DAYA collection was the understanding of energies: their influence on individuals' lives and their flows present in everyday situations to create designs that establish safe and comfortable environments. Objects of daily use are born and become a source of inspiration, evoke unconscious emotions, and stimulate perception towards the new, the creative, the transitory, and the indefinite.

One of the fundamental aspects of this collection closely tied to Feng Shui and Wastu is the art of harmonizing the elements: form, color, materials, lighting, and the use of the primary idea of the form of water, the droplet. These define and characterize how Chi energy flows, moves, accumulates, or disperses within the design object, aiming to achieve a perceivable final harmony for the user of the artwork and the space in which it will be placed.

DAYA is BORN

The DAYA collection describes, analyzes, interprets, and utilizes the movement of energy to propose highly creative designs. For this reason, the pieces in the collection can be placed wherever there is movement of people, matter, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. DAYA also implies a deeper meaning: the uniqueness of the entire cosmos, where the macro and micro mutually determine each other, just as the elements of an environment influence its inhabitants.

"The DAYA collection is the result of a collaboration that has started one year ago when we first met Jasmine and Christian here in Singapore during the design week.

This elements design is the result of an intertwining of cultures , a bridge between East and West . Built on the principles of Feng Shui .
In a broader sense, this collection embodies the essence of cross-cultural exchange; Merging flows of knowledge and creativity while respecting individual cultural identities.

The foundation of these designs is the energy of the Ancient Vastu, Feng Shui and Taoism .

The ANFRATTO pair, draws inspiration from the water drop, which encapsulates the primordial spirit of life. Protected by 2 robust earth pillars. By sitting on them , one can immediately feel the protective and welcoming nature of this design and appreciate the space for personal reflection and privacy they create.

From the water drop idea , which occurs across the whole collection, as we can see on the Ayla coffee table as well. Another recurring element of nature is the Bamboo. Here realised with casted bronze. Bamboo that symbolises different things from the eastern point of view: Strength, longevity , and friendship.

Of course quality of the craftsmanship  speak for itself . From the leather work, to the bronze casting and to the masterful straw marquetry we can see on the external parts of the Anfratto duo.

Our Philosophy Behind Every Project

The relationship between technology and the language of design is complex because each design choice is both a technological option and a symbolic message. In every project, Architect Casiraghi and his team reference existing materials and manufacturing processes to build a form that is not initially predictable but emerges from the ongoing creation process.

However, the construction of a new form suggests new construction methods that lead to the choice of new production processes and materials. In the creative process, a circular movement is established between the unthought and the already experimented, between immateriality and materiality, between symbol and technique, between unknown and known. A clear vision in Feng Shui and Taoist writings: one can only speak of circularity as everything comes from the unending of something else.
